Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Buds On, its first truly open-ear earbuds, according to 9to5Google. The launch was made quietly on Samsung's Korean newsroom rather than at a dedicated event, Android Authority and Notebookcheck report.
The Galaxy Buds On use a clip-style design that hooks onto the side of your ear, pushing the driver toward the ear canal while leaving ambient sound free to come through. Samsung says the earbuds go on sale in Korea on October 27, with global markets following thereafter.
Galaxy Buds On specs and features
Samsung is pitching the Galaxy Buds On as a wearable you can keep on all day, since nothing seals off your ear canal. Interaction happens through a light touch on the back half of each earbud, and the pair also handles automatic volume adjustments and works actively to reduce sound leakage.
Battery life is rated at 9.5 hours, and the earbuds run on a Snapdragon chip. The charging case is essentially the same one used with the Galaxy Buds 4, while Gemini Live support matches what Samsung offers on its other recent Galaxy Buds.
- Open-ear, clip-on design that leaves ambient sound audible
- Light-touch controls on the rear half of each earbud
- Automatic volume adjustment and active noise-leakage reduction
- Upgraded call quality
- Snapdragon chip with 9.5 hours of battery life
