Huawei unveiled four new Mate 90 series phones in China yesterday, and the top-end Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS are the models carrying Huawei's latest in-house chip, the Kirin 9050 Pro. Now a fresh Geekbench result for the Mate 90 Pro Max has given us our first clear look at how that silicon performs.
The listing shows a nine-core CPU and a Maleoon 955 GPU, and it suggests Huawei's chip is catching up with older Qualcomm flagships rather than the newest ones. Because Huawei hasn't confirmed the details, treat the figures as a leak and not an official spec sheet.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Geekbench scores
The Mate 90 Pro Max, listed under the model number CMM-AL10, averaged 1,317 single-core points and 5,381 multi-core points on Geekbench 7, per GSMArena. Its best run reached 1,528 single-core and 6,169 multi-core.
As GSMArena notes, putting that result against older chips would place the Kirin 9050 Pro's CPU performance somewhere between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from 2021 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. One commenter argues that against Geekbench 7 results directly it looks closer to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so treat the comparison as an estimate rather than a verdict.
- Geekbench 7 average: 1,317 single-core / 5,381 multi-core
- Best recorded run: 1,528 single-core / 6,169 multi-core
- CPU: nine cores, including a 3.1GHz Prime ultra core
- Six performance cores at 2.7GHz and 2.2GHz, plus two efficiency cores at 1.75GHz
